Throughout the main streets, there is a whole range of restaurants to choose from or little eateries and take-aways guaranteed to satisfy a quick meal. Some of the favourites include Sushi Fusion, Akarui, Java (behind Randwick Shopping Center) a spread of Thai restaurants particularly Taste of Thai, Chao Praya and Noodi. After a late night movie, Arthur’s Pizza serves hot pizza for the hungry looking for eateries still open for business. Zellini’s café which opens till late serves sumptuous breakfasts and keeps customers coming back for more of their cakes which are totally delectable (try the tiramisu!). But of course a quick meal fix can be found at various fast food outlets such as O’Galo, Subway, kebabs at Randwick Shopping Centre Food Court, KFC, and a funky outlet named burger-edge at the Spot with fancy burger names such as Bombay Bash, Cranberry Surprised and Hawaiian Hula which serves grilled meats with interesting combinations of ingredients. Numerous cafes line the streets as well with few worth mentioning. Chocol’art serves great hot chocolates on a wintry dry and refreshing thick cold shakes during summer times. Another café tucked away near the Spot is the Teascapes Café which has a retro-theme décor and classic movie posters on the walls, bringing you back to days where pictures were still black and white. Teascapes also offer cards and board games stacked by the shelves for customers to have some fun while they sip their coffee. Sugarplum is another fantastic café and ice-cream bar with an extraordinary range of ice-cream flavours, like Hokey Pokey and Green Tea. Their ice-cream cakes are also very popular for birthdays and they come in their signature flavour of Marble Crunch.
For self-catering or to whip up a meal at home, there are seafood outlets, butchers, a Coles supermarket, Randwick Oriental Supermarket for Asian ingredients and a wide range of gourmet stores and markets (fish, fruits) in Randwick Shopping Center.
There are several bakeries and cake shops lining the streets namely Brumby’s, Michel’s, and a store at the Spot that serves hand-made pies, tarts and cakes.
Numerous services are offered in Randwick such as banking facilities (St. George, Commonwealth, ANZ, Westpac, National), real estate services (Raine & Horne, n g farah, Ray White), medical centers, dental clinics, sport physiotherapies, optometries, hairdressers and dry-cleaning services. There is even a dance school located just opposite the Randwick Ritz Cinema (see movie deals).
Other shops include individual retail outlets, 24-hour convenience stores, newsagencies, pharmacies and huge budget stores such as Tek’s that sells anything from cookware to towels to tools.
With a high population of students and backpackers within the area, it comes to no surprise that there are three travel agencies offering travel at budget prices mainly for students. They include “STA”, “Flight Center”-that allows you to beat any price lower than theirs, and “Student Flights”.
For lazy weekends or just a day to pamper yourself, rent a movie or two at Blockbusters video store or indulge in a spa package at EB Spa Clinic or sparkle your nails at LaBelle Nails. For a good time with friends, head to Randwick AMF for a bowling nite! Alternatively, the most popular bar at Randwick is Royal Hotel which is usually packed with a noisy crowd on Friday nights who go there for a game of pool or the sports coverage provided in the bar. The other bars include Coach and Horses Hotel and Charing Cross Hotel.
